The best part for the kids in this year's fun pictures? They were told to go play outside and get dirty ALL DAY LONG on the day of the photo shoot. The best part for me? No one's hair needed to be curled.
Plus, crying kids? Snotty noses? No problem.

You are KILLING me! That is the greatest!!!!! Totally laughing at 8am on about 3 hours of sleep. Love it!
I'm sorry. I must comment again. Do I see a blacked-out tooth on you, Gerb? Just saying.
I love it!! Very creative!
That is my kind of photoshoot! No primping, ironing, or finding matching shirts in all the right sizes. And yes, definitely memorable.
They are fabulous and I really love the blacked out tooth.
I'm imagining the family history implications. I'd like to flash forward 100 years to hear the stories that will be told in Sunday School classes, based on those pictures alone!
I LOOOOOOVE these!
Now it all makes sense. I had heard you were getting family pictures taken but on the Saturday I thought you were doing them I saw your family working on the fence until late in the afternoon. My thoughts were how you must be taking a low key approach to the pictures. When I saw the first pictures they truly didn't look like they hadn't had a lot of effort to get ready for. Everyone looked so beautiful. The second pictures fit in better with a day working on the fence. I'm sure this truly will be something your kids remember.
I like the blacked out tooth! Oh and the sign saying need diapers! Too funny, you guys rock.
Your kids still look so darn cute even with their smug, hungry, dirty little faces. I have to say Allen really looked like a bum. Great idea!
I am speechless with delight and wonder.
Gina- I am glad you get my humor. And yes, I eyeliner-ed out a tooth. I am so glad you noticed. ;)
Kimm- Thanks! It was a lot of fun.
Natalie- Amen! The last-minute scrambling was more of a "no, that looks too nice on you. Go find a really big sweater or something!"
Bec- Never thought of that... but I love it! Just a little piece of family history we've created for ourselves...
b.- Thanks! Me, too.
Kara- First set of pictures? Almost 2 solid hours of curling hair. Second set? About 5 minutes of spraying Pam in their hair to make it look worse.
Cara- Thanks! The tooth idea just sort of came to me at the last minute. I kind of wish I smiled a bit more to showcase it.
Autumn- Thanks. Allen was a pretty convincing bum, wasn't he? He wears those clothes/hat when he's working in the yard.
Anaise- We're a bit different, aren't we? We were a little worried about how some people might react but so far it's been great.
Gerb, you are so creative. I love this. The blacked out tooth is my favorite part. And that your family is beautiful even at their grungiest.
Loved them!
at least you know ahead of time how many shopping cards you'll need if the time should come. LOL That is the best - they are all great!
Saw these on Jason's site and I about peed myself laughing. Yall are the best. All of you. Those pathetic "we're so homeless we don't even have TIN cups" expressions...I'd contribute to the cause.
These are awesome!!! I think the best thing was watching Pres. Bell looking at your family pictures. It was priceless!!
