You Make Me Happy (When Skies Are Grey)

This post is for me. Totally for me. And maybe for you if you love clouds and storms like I love clouds and storms.

Today when Allen and I were driving home from the Farmer's Market I saw these beauties crowding the increasingly stormy sky. We drove down our road a piece to get some fantastic, unobstructed views of this gift from the heavens.

They were fairly fast-moving, shifting and changing shapes with the breeze. Then the clouds gathered in this distant canyon:

And lightning and thunder ensued.

Within 5 minutes we were hit with super wind gusts (love!) and rain that poured down in buckets (love more!).

And now it smells just heavenly outside.

Oh happy, blissful day!

I have been absolutely thrilled with all of these magnificent rain bursts (except that I think it might be killing my first ever vegetable garden). Today it took me 45 minutes, in the downpour, to make it home on a normal 15 minute route. Loved it!

We got caught in it at Summerfest. By the time I got to the car I was soaked to the bra (more realistic than bone I think). It came so quickly, it was just fantastic. There is nothing like running through torrential rain in heavy jeans and flip flops.

How happy you would be in the Midwest--we've had house-shaking thunderstorms every third day for over 2 weeks now! The lightning brightens our house like instant sunlight when it comes, and we gather at our front window to watch it split the sky in half.

If you ever plan a church history trip--come see us (and the sights) in late May/early June--when our severe weather season is at its height.

We should go out walking in the rain sometime. If there are two of us people won't think we're as crazy (right)?

I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
From up and down, and still somehow,
It's cloud illusions I recall,
I really don't know clouds, at all...

But I love them all the same.

L- Well, then I think we should be friends. :)

Gina- Isn't it fantastic!! And good luck with your garden. I LOVE fresh produce in the summer months!

Maryanne- Thanks! You're in a better location for storms, aren't you?

Maleen- That sounds awesome. I'm glad someone else can appreciate that wet-jeans-in-the-rain feeling!

Anaise - That sounds heavenly. We did a church history trip back in 2004. Were you there then?

NoSurf- Sounds like a plan! I'll call you...

T5th- I haven't heard that in a good, long time. That's one of those songs that brings back memories of a very specific day in my life... thanks for the memory!
And... me, too.

Chelle- Won't it be awesome if we get one at camp?! (Or is that a selfish desire?) I LOVED the awesome lightening storm we had 2 years ago.

ahhhh I love the rain too!! I'm SO behind with my reading...of your blog that is!! Love it, love it!! Could really use a few more hours in a day, or a time management system that works!!

Sybrina- It has been amazing, hasn't it? I don't get it when people complain about it. They are the same people who will be saying, "It is TOO HOT! We need rain!" next month.

Kimm- Well, I'm getting SO behind in writing on my blog... but once camp is over, I'll have a gazillion stories to tell. So have your time management system all ready by then. ;)

What more needs to be said amongst friends?

That's what I thought.
