Accordion Awareness

My favorite cousin, Pam, sent me an email with this link in it.

Did I mention she's my favorite?

I am so SUPER excited! Not only is it Accordion Awareness Month, but June 6th is apparently Donut Day! (Although their spelling of 'dounut' is driving me INSANE!!)

So, in honor of Accordion Awareness Month, I present to you this short video clip.

Stay tuned for Saturday when I pay the proper respect for Donut Day (incidentally, my new favorite holiday).

Wonderful! Fabulous! Amazing! (And I'm not just saying that because you're my favorite cousin too!) I hopt this will be a regular feature during Accordian Awareness Month.

It's a shame how easily we take the most important things in life for granted. THANK YOU for renewing my awareness of the accordian and the amazing people that play it.

How funny... my husband called me a couple of hours ago from Wisconsin and told me he was listening to a polka station on the radio and here you are with more polka on your blog... 2 polka incidents in one day - amazing!

I realize how serious the cause of Accordian Awareness is, Gerb, but come on, sell it Sistah! Put a smile on your face! How can you look so somber while you're playing such a jaunty tune and putting smiles on everyone else's faces? But I'll tell you what I did enjoy--your finish with flair. That's what I'm saying.

[The color of your wall is amazing]. So I'm watching your video and very stream-of-consciousness-like I start thinking:

wedding
what if i got married
and had dancing at my wedding
and gerb played the accordian
and me and my husband danced the polka instead of the waltz

i'm not holding my breath, but i think that'd be awesome

Oh, my, you do know how to make me smile. YOUR ARE FABULOUS!!! Hey, I just remember....what about our song at camp. We need to practice it.

Ah, Gerb. Yet again you've found a way to cause a smile to creep onto my face.

Thank you.

As for 'Donut Day,' that should be one holiday we ALL celebrate with Dunford Maple Bars and old fashioned sour cream glazed.

Ah, donuts.

Gerb,
What would the world be like without you? A very bleak place I tell you.
Rock on!

And I agree wholeheartedly (sp?)with Teachinfourth...maple bars and sour cream glazed...absoulutely the best. Pair them with a "the Dr." and there is nothing better. :)

Sweet accordian playing! There's a Donut (or however you spell it!) Day!?!

I mean "sweet ACCORDION playing". I really should pay attention to that little red squiggly line sometime. :)

Pam- Perhaps I will produce another short video to honor such a fine instrument.

Martha- Hmmm. Well, if you insist...

Allen- Anytime, handsome.

ST- Accordion Awareness Month is really having an effect on you, isn't it?!

Kristi- I can't wait either!!

~j- Awww, shucks.

Bec- I know, I know. I had to make like 5 million videos to try to keep it under the allotted 100MB video size and that one actually fit. It's also why I'm playing so fast. I think I'll produce another video clip to appease your need for a smile and my need to redeem myself... and of course to bring more awareness to this often ignored instrument.

Sarah- You tell me the date and time and I will be there, accordion in hand!

Chelle- I have come to the conclusion that the masterpiece I wrote for camp will not be used, and I am at peace with it now. I have a couple of great accordion numbers, though - that I think would be perfect for waking up the YCLs...

T5- Thanks. I hope you'll be celebrating donut day as well. And, did you see Trish's comment below? Wow!

Trish- I credit your friendship early on for part of who I am today. I know you've got it in you, too. In fact, I believe I have some pictures to prove it...

Gina- Maybe our training this month will need a bit of accordion awareness? I better bring it along, just in case.

Cari- Thanks! Yes, this Saturday you need to get yourself some donuts and celebrate!!

I think it is great that you play the accordion--I quite enjoyed your video, but I must admit that I'm going to skip Donut Day in favor of Fudge Day on the 16th!

Way to go! My cousins play accordion, I wonder if they know it's accordion awareness month?
