National Pretzel Day

It's National Pretzel Day tomorrow! To celebrate, Pretzelmaker & Pretzel Time stores will be giving away free pretzels all day!

Of course, there's a slight catch... they are asking for customers to sing for their snack.

Can you say: Awesome!

All you have to do is visit your local Pretzelmaker on Monday, April 26th and sing a snippet from any song of your choice in exchange for a free pretzel. Get your vocal chords ready & go show 'em what the world is missing since you never followed your dreams and made it to the stages of Broadway.

Honestly, if you're like me, this could just be a great excuse to break out in song in a public place. It will be like LIVING IN A MUSICAL!!

Rock the house! Maybe you'll be discovered.

Oh yeah... and enjoy your free pretzel, too. (Whatever. Like that's really what it's all about.)

(Okay, if you don't want to sing you only have to mention National Pretzel Day. But where's the fun in that?)

Cowgirl Loves Pancakes

It is my sweet Cowgirl's 9th birthday today. NINE years! Where does the time go? I can still remember what an angel she was as a baby. She rarely cried, even as a newborn. She would wake up in the morning and just lay there in her crib, waiting for someone to come get her for breakfast. She has grown into such a beautiful girl and her heart is as tender as they come.

Cowgirl has been reminding me for an entire month that she has never had a birthday party (no SuperMom status here) and that I needed to get some invitations ready pretty soon or it would be too late. Yesterday when I picked her up from school the first thing she asked about were those blasted invitations.

I had none.

But little does she know that today after school I have arranged for she and 4 friends to dine on pizza and ice cream and then to go see a movie that she has been dying to see.

Redemption.

And then, to make it even better, I arranged for IHOP to give away a free short stack of pancakes to every person who comes in from 7 am to 10 pm today. How cool is that?! SuperMom status, achieved!

(Okay, actually, I lied. They were already doing that at IHOP. But let's not tell Cowgirl, okay?)

Happy birthday, Cowgirl. We love you to the moon and back again infinity times.

You Lucky Locals!

Time's up! And the "Custom Random Number Generator" over at mathgoodies.com tells me that the lucky winner is: Comment #2, ~j! (applause!)

UPDATED! Check the bottom of the post...

I have 2 tickets.

They are for the Utah Regional Ballet's performance of The Nutcracker.

They were a gift from our fine city when we won the Good Neighbor Award.

Wasn't that thoughtful and nice? And we really appreciate it.

But there's this thing...

You know how some people are all artsy-fartsy and some are not?

We are all about artsy-fartsy.

Art galleries? LOVE them!
Plays? Musicals? First in line!!
Musical performances? BRING THEM ON!

But dancing... how do I say this?

I can't dance. Let's just get that out there. If you need someone who is crazy and can move around, wildly flapping their arms and imitating moves of decades past, I'm your woman. That's all I have to offer.

That may or may not have to do with the fact that watching other people dance puts me to sleep.

Please! Don't anyone be offended! (And don't tell me I should watch that famous-people-dancing t.v. show. We have rabbit ears, and I don't have time.)

Can you imagine how embarrassed I was when I fell asleep and SNORED at a modern dance concert back in 1989?! I had like a billion friends in this thing! But I could not. keep. my. eyes. open.

Here's where you come in. Can you help a girl out? Save me the embarrassment of ruining our family's good name and attend the Nutcracker Ballet for us. I am offering 2 tickets for the Covey Arts Center performance on Thursday, December 18th at 7: 30 p.m.

Anyone?

Balcony seats!

Anyone?

Great date night!

Anyone?

p.s. In the event that more than one person responds to this post, I will do that "random number generator" thing that other people talk about. I have no idea what it is, but I'm sure if I google it I can figure it out.

Since there is some interest in the tickets, I'll do the random pick thing. To answer questions: This is in Provo at the Covey Arts Center (a.k.a. the old Provo Library building). No, I don't have to know you for you to get in on the tickets. And I'll stop accepting comments tomorrow afternoon (Thursday, Dec. 4th) at 1:00 p.m. And by the way, I am SUPER excited that someone else can enjoy these.

Git Free Chikin!

I figured I'd give you a week's notice on this freebie. You know, to get your cow costume together and everything. What, you don't have a cow costume? Well, get crackin'!

July 11th is Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A. What does this mean? If you dress up like a cow, you get free food.

I swear, I'm not making this up. See for yourself!

If you're dressed like a cow from head to toe, you get a free combo meal.

If you're dressed like a partial cow, you get a free entree.

If you stop by my house and show me your costume, you get your picture taken to be used as blackmail whenever I deem necessary.

Happy Free Donut Friday!

Aren't you glad you read my blog today?

It's FREE DONUT DAY at Krispy Kreme and if you live close to me, our local store is participating in this SWEET deal. And it's not just the glazed kind. It's a donut of YOUR CHOICE to celebrate National Donut Day! How did I not know this day existed? Could there be a SWEETER DAY of the year? I think the kids and I will go drop in to celebrate.

Happy National Donut Day!

FREE Stuff

I love to clean.

OK, not all the time. In fact, not most of the time. But I do love those days where I have the time and energy to do a good, deep clean and come up with bags and boxes full of treasures for someone to find at D.I. I go through my rooms with this mindset: If we were moving next week, would I want to take this with me? Anyway, today has been one of those 'purging stuff' days, and I have some great things to get rid of. One thing I keep encountering on these days of cleaning frenzy are pictured above: Pampered Chef Valtrompia Bread Tubes. I got 2 of them (flower and heart) as a gift from my mom about 5 years ago but have never had occasion (or, more likely, time) to use them. They are still in the boxes, unused, and it seems wrong to drop them off at D.I., so in my closet they remain, taking up needed space.

Anyone use bread tubes? Anyone want to?

I have heard they make fun banana bread shapes. You can also make fudge in them so it's a fun, new design besides the standard squares. A while back I read about a lady who made French bread in them for a fun twist. If I make any of these things, I just do it the standard way. So here's the deal...

If you want these, you can have them. Even if you live far away, I would be happy to mail them to you. The first response I get in my comments from someone who is creative in the kitchen and likes fun items like this can have them.

Any takers?
