"There should be no yelling in the home unless there is a fire." -David O. McKay
Wise words from a wise man!
I found this quote online the other day and knew it was just the reminder I needed. I decided to make it into something I could print out and hang on my wall - but probably just where I can see it. Otherwise the kids would probably point at it all the time while glaring at me with accusing looks on their faces. I'm pretty sure that would be counter-productive.

:D Yesterday Levi used a tone of voice on me and some reasoning that I just know his teachers at school use on him. Cracked me up! Only he can get away with something like that. The others....... yeah, totally counter intuitive.
There must be several fires a day at our house. Jerri
I made the mistake once of telling my kids that they could nicely point out to me when I was yelling so I'd be aware and stop. Turns out it only made me madder. But I'm trying!!
I hear you, Jerri! I'm working on it. We'll see if the visual reminder helps.
Hold on here, Gerb. You told me I had to be a "jerk mom". Doesn't a "jerk mom" involve yelling? ;)
I really try not to yell, because I hate the sound of my own voice when I do. But sometimes, it is the only way to get them to listen to me! They hear my normal voice all day, so they just tune it out. But the Nazi mom voice? Now THAT they listen to.

I love this quote. The thing is...I might like some yelling...it is way too quiet sometimes at my home.
When I read your profile and read that you had 10 kids. Wow! You don't look old enough to have 10 kids. That's for your post.
Hi, could you tell me where you got the David O. McKay quote from.
Thanks
badger- It was referred to here: http://www.lds.org/general-conference/1978/04/making-your-marriage-successful?lang=eng
Thanks for posting this, I really needed it today. It was also nice to read your comments and know I'm not alone in the constant struggle of being the mom I want to be:) I found the link to your page on pinterest. Love your family picture. Awesome.
